Association E supports research projects of all disciplines, but also interdisciplinary projects and collaborative projects, if they have the claim to contribute to the realization of a society in which a dignified, self-determined life without suffering is possible for all people. Findings from science and research are part of emancipatory social practice.
The funding criteria are furthermore based on methodological pluralism. Association E explicitly wants to contribute to the negotiation of the tension and potential conflict between different research practices and understandings of science, especially between quantitative and qualitative research, i.e. the objectifying measurement and the subjectifying comprehension of phenomena.
Central to this is our interdisciplinary research group. Young scientists from different disciplines and universities meet here in various research workshops with a view to different topics and research fields. In addition, a monthly colloquium presents the current state of research, and results and projects are exchanged and discussed. The focus is always on a contribution from the natural sciences and one from the social sciences and/or humanities.
